Cambridge-Isanti Schools Welcomes Two New Leaders to the Bluejacket Team

Cambridge-Isanti Schools is excited to announce the appointment of two experienced and dedicated leaders who will begin new roles in the district on July 1, pending School Board approval.

Rachel Kasper has been selected as the next Director of Special Education and Student Support Services. Rachel brings over a decade of experience in special education, including eight years in leadership roles. Most recently, she has supported multiple districts through her work with the Sherburne and Northern Wright Special Education Cooperative. Her work has focused on strengthening systems of support, enhancing compliance, building staff capacity, and improving outcomes for students with diverse needs.

Throughout her career, Rachel has led professional development, supervised specialized programs and staff, and developed tools to streamline service delivery. She also brings expertise in trauma-informed practices and crisis response—critical elements in building safe, inclusive learning environments. Rachel is known for her collaborative leadership style, clear communication, and deep commitment to supporting both students and staff.

Eric Bjurman has been named the next Principal of Cambridge Primary School. Eric brings more than 10 years of administrative experience and 17 years as a classroom teacher. Since 2017, he has served as Principal at Foley Intermediate School, where he has led with a student-centered approach, a strong focus on school culture, and meaningful collaboration with families and staff.

Eric is recognized for his calm and thoughtful leadership style, collaborative mindset, and strong relationship-building skills. His experience in implementing schoolwide support systems and aligning academic programs will be a valuable asset to the Cambridge Primary School community.

Both of these leadership roles are critical to the continued success and growth of our schools. We want to extend our sincere appreciation to the search and interview teams for their thoughtful and dedicated work throughout the selection process.

Please join us in welcoming Rachel Kasper and Eric Bjurman to Cambridge-Isanti Schools. We look forward to the leadership, vision, and positive impact they will bring to our students, staff, and families.
